MUSIC at St. James

Chancel Choir

This volunteer group of women, men and teenagers lead worship from the choir loft every Sunday from September through May.  They do a mixture of traditional and contemporary anthems, psalms, and hymns accompanied by the piano or the organ.  They are musically sound and always interested in a new challenge.  The choir's abilities range from beginner to advanced. We welcome any and all people, where ever they are in the journey of life! That means, if you can commit to three weeks and nothing more, I personally want you to come and grace us with your presence, even if it's for a short time. We meet on Thursday nights from 7:00 to 8:30 or 9 directed by George Behr. If you have any comments or questions please email me: music@refinersonline.org

Junior Refiners Band Specializing in more contemporary worship music, this group of teen musicians accompany the Chancel choir every Sunday morning.  The group's strength lies in the enthusiasm each member brings to the weekly rehearsals. They improvise with the best of them, and learn music as fast as their senior counterparts. As well as great music, there is always a lof of laughs and fun to be had. They are led by Emily Carr.
Junior Choir This choir is recommended for children who are able to read, but who are too young to join the Senior Choir. Practices are Sunday mornings at 9:40 a.m. The choir often sings during the 10:30 a.m. service. The Junior Choir is led by young musicians, Shae Forsberg, 652-5095. New members are always welcome.
Cantors Our soulful cantors lead in call and response singing, solos, and Psalms.
Liturgy An engaging liturgical Eucharist experience melding the contemporary and classical traditions. Utilizing a wider form of Psalmody and Hymnody from various sources in the greater community.  Other service parts such as the Gloria, Gospel Acclamation, Sanctus (Holy, Holy), Memorial Acclamation, Great Amen and the Agnus Dei (Lamb of God), seasonally change to promote growth within and for the congregation. Care & attention is brought forward so that even the new person that comes would be able to fully participate and therefore enriched and hopefully spiritually made anew from their experience.
